| George Braque accepted a commission to create a label for the 1955 Mouton Rothschild, which was followed by some of the great modern and contemporary artists including Picasso, Masson, Dali, Villon, Matta, Miro and Chagall. Now Max Shertz has created a unique and exciting Masterpiece Artists series consisting of twelve bottles of Pinot Noir, each depicting an original portrait of a famous modern artist. The artists were selected by Shertz for their considerable contributions to other artists and to our culture. These artists include Picasso, Kandinsky, Klee, Krasner, Shertz, Pollock, Miro, Braque, Marc, Gorky, Masson, and Hoffman. Max created the portraits, the labels and designed the bottles, a first for this creator, his marriage of wine and art. Only a small number of these sets were created making them a prime collectible. Now Shertz is open for any winery proposals and envisions his next series could be the Impressionists, the Futurists, the Expressionists, the Surrealists, or who knows maybe the World’s great composers or writers.
